This is one the "Cat Quilts" that Mara made for her two brothers
and their wives. The fabrics are mostly
William Morris prints. Her brothers were
in the military so on each quilt one
cat has dog tags and the wives cats have
heart necklaces. |

"It's Been a Long Winter"
Batik & black cake stand blocks received in an internet swap were not enough for a large quilt, and I didn’t want a traditional straight set for them, so I placed them around a center medallion. I don’t usually applique, so this quilt was a stretch for me. The applique was made up as I went along, placing the 3-dimensional flowers where they looked the best to me. Machine applique, gathering, folding, were all used to make the flowers. I like to do backart as well, and I had recently seen a New York Beauty quilt that I liked, and used that as the inspiration for the back of this quilt.

Theresa Fowler, shown on the left, and our favorite "Elf", Elsie Vredenberg, shown on the right, got together in Traverse City, MI earlier this spring. They had a little show & tell and a lot of conversation. The quilt is "Split Rock Sunset". It was made by Elsie for the MAQS contest, New Quilts from an old favorite: Mariners Compass. It was a finalist and traveled for a year in a special exhibit. |

| THE BISHOP'S HOUSE by Elsie Vredenburg. Elsie explains that the quilt "is from a photo of Hans Herr House in Lancaster, PA, taken when we were there in 1995. It's the oldest existing structure in Lancaster Co., PA, home of the first Mennonite bishop of that area, who is a direct ancestor of mine." | |
| FUNDY by Elsie Vredenberg: A memory of a wonderful vacation to New England. Snail's trail blocks and pieced lighthouses. | |

This charming quilt is even more charming for sharing the stage with Laura W's cute kiddos, Jade and Rhys. The reds and greens in the quilt came from our 4" strip swaps, saved up over the years, and the blocks came from 4" PFP Block exchanges done on QAF. |
| This woven ribbons quilt was made by Shaka from a swap done a few years ago on QAF. | |
| This quilt was made by Barbara Young for Becky and Jesse Moser for their wedding. The blocks came from the Jewel Box swap. It was made in 2004 and quilted by Marsha Hankins. | |
| Ellen Robinson has devised a nifty way to use up all those 100's of charm squares you've collected over the years. See how Ellen created a Charm Rug. |
