November 2002 Birds in the Air 12" finished size (12 1/2" unfinished)

I did this one in a Medium blue with a cream on cream background. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Don't panic, these are all quick half square triangles.  Cut your squares of each fabric, put  lights and darks right sides together and on the back of the light square, draw a line diagonally from corner to corner.  Now draw a line 1/4" on each side of the first line.  Sew the squares together on these two lines, then cut them apart on the center line.  Press out and you'll have two half square triangle blocks.  Square the larger HST’s  to 8 ½”, the smaller ones to 4 ½”.  Sew the block together following the picture.

            Background:            (3) 5” squares

                                         (1) 9” square

            Blue                       (3) 5” squares

                                         (1) 9” square
