Cabin in the Pines Quilt
The Cabin in the Pines quilt uses the November and December 2004 QAF Blocks of the Month. The November Cabin is an 8" finished block, and the December Trees finish at 6". You will add a 2 1/2" x 6 1/2" strip to the bottom of each tree block. The tree blocks will then finish to 6" x 8" so that they can be used with the Cabins.
To make this quilt, decide how many rows you want, how many Cabins you want and how many Trees. Using the instructions found in the BOM archives, make your blocks. Then choose one or more green fabrics for the sashing between the rows and a 'sky' fabric for a sashing above each row if desired.
Arrange Cabins and Trees however you like them, making sure that each row has a like amount of each so that rows are the same length. Use spacer blocks if needed. Refer to the picture to see spacer blocks, and to sash your rows. Sew all the rows together and add borders and quilt as desired.
Consider using plaids, and brushed cottons and flannels for your quilt. Cabin in the Pines would be very nice as a lap quilt or a wall quilt, cozy and cozy looking in the fall and winter.
